For years the Penn State uniform and helmet have always been one of my favorites. It's just, when it comes to uniforms in football, for me, less is always more. I've always appreciated the simplicity of Penn State's uniforms, and that being the case, you can probably figure out how I feel about the uniforms that Oregon rolls out every weekend.
Well, if you're like me, and you enjoy the less is more approach to uniforms, then this may be good news for you. Penn State's jerseys are about to get even simpler, as the Nittany Lions plan on making one small change for the 2011 season.
Penn State likely will tweak the appearance of its home and road uniform this fall, according to Guido D'Elia, the director of communications and branding for the football team.
Speaking to a class at Penn State, D'Elia indicated the home-uniform white trim around the neck and on the sleeves would be eliminated. Also, the road-uniform blue trim would be eliminated.Which is just about as basic as basic can get. Though, ironically enough, I'm not sure I'll like these uniforms as much as the ones Penn State currently wears. Yes, they'll look the same as the jersey's Penn State's football team wore during the 70s and earlier, but I think the trim is important to the jersey. If you take away the white trim on the blue jersey, and vice versa, they both kind of look like practice jerseys.
