TCU busts out some new duds

Fresh off an undefeated season and victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, in which the Horned Frogs busted out some fancy new uniforms, TCU unveiled the jerseys it will begin wearing in the 2011 season. Which is also the last year TCU will spend in the Mountain West before moving on to the greener pasture of the Big East in 2012, where going undefeated may actually afford the school a chance to play for a national title.

As you can see by looking at the new duds - those are them up there in case you haven't figure it out - they are rather basic, especially when compared to what we've seen Nike come up with in recent years. Which means that I like them because I've always been a fan of a simpler, cleaner look. So if Oregon ever wanted me to play football for them, they'd have to pay my street agent a lot of money to get me (I'm kidding! Sort of).

What you can't see as well in the photo above, however, is that there has also been a change to TCU's helmets. That cute little horned frog that had been on the helmet in recent seasons, and had a rose dangling from its mouth in the Rose Bowl, is gone. Now it's just the TCU that is being displayed. Which is the one aspect of the new ensemble that I don't like.

I was a fan of that frog, darn it.

With that purple and black that digital camo like VT. wore against Boise st. would look good.

I could be wrong, but didn't they have jerseys close to these back in the early '90's? And why get rid of the frog? The little guys seems like he's always been on the helmet; or did he sustain a concussion and wasn't cleared to play this year? But seriously, they actually paid someone to design these? I like simple, but these are simply ugly.

It doesn't matter what uniforms they wear during the regular season! Just wait til they play in a bowl game and come out in some legit uni's.

Wow, most high schools have better unis. Losing the frog? Unforgiveable!!!

I loved the uniforms they used in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl. Regardless of what they wear, they are going to be tough.

I kinda liked the old pro combat uniforms. The new ones aren't my favorite... but hey, Go Frogs!

Any uniform Nike designs is likely to be overdone and ugly. This is actually tame compared to many of the Nike designs in recent years, starting with the hideous Denver Broncos uniforms. But it still looks ugly just like a practice jersey. Stay out of it please Nike...you are ruining football jerseys everywhere!!!!

TCU busts out some new duds

Well, considering this is a blog post and not an article, it wasn't really put into print (plus the obvious fact that this is ONLINE and not being printed onto paper.)
Besides, for people who are fans of TCU, this is something that's worthy of being posted, just like you'd probably enjoy reading things about Bama.
Anywho, I think the design is a little too simplified now. I think the ones they wore to the Rosebowl (with the purple pants, not the silvery ones they were originially gonnna wear) looked awesome, and I wish they would have made that design into the ones they wear all season. Plus I miss the frog on the helmet...
