Gators' frosh RB Blakely already transferring

Mike Blakely hasn't played a down at Florida. He hasn't even played a down of practice, being forced to sit out spring practice after surgery on an injured shoulder.

But the early-enrolling class of 2011 running back has apparently seen enough to know the Gator program isn't for him. Head coach Will Muschamp has announced that Blakely is seeking a transfer and will be leaving Gainesville following this semester:
"Mike has come to the conclusion that the University of Florida is not where he wants to play football," Muschamp said. "We wish him the best of luck" ...

“Everyone at Florida has been very supportive of me in my time here and I'm thankful for the experience that I had, but I've made a decision to continue my college football career somewhere else," Blakely said.
Despite his limited time with the Gators, Blakely's signed letter-of-intent and early enrollment means he will be nonetheless required to sit out the 2011 season as a transfer. (We think; he may be seeking an NCAA waiver of some sort.)

One of the nation's top running back prospects last year -- he ranked at No. 66 overall in the Maxpreps top 100 and the No. 7 tailback -- Blakely was expected by many to challenge Chris Rainey, Mike Gillislee and the rest of the incumbent Gator tailbacks for the starting job in Charlie Weis's power-first pro-style overhaul.

But like most members of the Gators' class of 2011, Blakely had committed to Urban Meyer and the previous regime's spread look; per one early report, after getting a first-hand look at Weis's approach, the change in offensive scheme was enough to prompt the transfer request.

As for Blakely's next step, his destination is a matter of speculation, though it seems likely he'll look for an offense similar to the Meyer spread he originally committed to. What we do know is that the team adding him will be getting a potential playmaker whose stunningly brief Florida tenure shouldn't be the last we hear of him by any means.

First off....Florida will never respect any big (crap) 10 school...why well lets see the conference is pretty weak...well at least now you have the corn huskers in there now its about a fraction stronger.  Truth be told if any Big 10, Big East, ACC...ext ext team had to battle with a SEC schedule they would crash pretty badly.  And I mean come on its Michigan who gives a crap about some piss poor football program where the biggest game of the year is playing Ohio state...really WOW so thrilling to watch two weak football programs battle it out....unlike the SEC where ever single conference game is a battle! And not one conference can testify to that...so until Michigan plays an SEC schedule and dominates it they will never ever get respect from UF...by the way GO GATORS!

With The New Sheriff In Town This Wont Be The Las

This wont be the last one to bail on UF. The thugs that thought they were coming to play for the thug lover meyer are getting their eyes opened. The UF now has a coach that will not put up with the thugs. Some coaches will sell their souls for win like meyer did. But UF has a coach now that has morals. If the THUGS wanna play for meyer he will be running the show at OS when mr sweater vest gets put in the road.

The theory that the SEC and the Big Ten have split their recent matchups is the "classic Big Ten" argument. How has the Big Ten done in bowls the last five years? 13-24? Does that compare to the SEC's 30-16? Do the Yankees and the Red Sox only count the games they play against each other or do they count all the games? Because the Big Ten hasn't done nearly as well against the ACC,Pac-Ten, and Big Twelve as the SEC has in recent seasons.

Ok, you beat us in 2002, which was Ron Zook's first year.  Wow, congrats.  Then you beat us in 2007, a year after playing for a national title and SETTLED to play in that bowl.  I mean those guys gave a shoulder shrug like, "eh, yea i guess we'll go play in that game," And Michigan was THRILLED to be there and have one last hoora for Loyd Carr.  Glad to hear you are proud of those wins, but I don't think any respect is deserved from Gator fans.

There is the classic SEC excuse!  Our guys didnt try!  The SEC is the best conference and the big 10 as a whole was down pretty hard last year, but look at the 5-10 years before that.  SEC and Big 10 basically split their matchups evenly.  And I just mention the Michigan-Florida games because all I heard going in to the game was how bad florida was going to destroy michigan because of how much faster they were.  Then that 2007 game started, and Florida couldn't stop Michigan.  Mike Hart fumbled on first down at the one yard line twice or it would have been a lot worse than it ended up.  The SEC is the best conference, but its not the NFL.  Don't pretend like they are unbeatable.  There have been plenty of losses over the last few years to the inferior Big 10, Mountain West, Big East conferences.

Why would you pick out the team in the Big 10 that has beat you the last two times they played you (both within 10 years.)  And the year Michigan lost to Appalachian State was the same year that they beat Florida in the Capital One Bowl.  Noone is going to argue that Michigan is anywhere near Florida right now, and they have been awful the last couple years,  but I would just assume that the big ten team that beat you the last two times would at least get a little respect from your fan base.

Please stop talking.................u are making us other Gator fans look stupid. Did you really think we had enough players to be a BCS contender? Dude, college football is all about retooling.
Actually, I know we had the players; and if you don't think so, well, you should probably retract the "u are making us other Gator fans look stupid" remark.  Who would've thought Auburn had the talent to win a BCS game going into last year?  It was done through coaching and the utilization of talent.  Cam Newton was a beast and was used to his full potential...that is great coaching.  Our retard OC  and blind HC had a QB that ran a 5.0 flat 40 running option plays, when they had a guy like Jordan Reed who is a legit spread QB and shouldve been the starter all year and got 95% of the snaps.  Then there are guys like Andre Debose that were electrifying when they got the ball, and were seldom used.  By the way, those guys were from a #1 recruiting class, so spare me on "we didn't have the fire power." I mean, were you hammered by the end of the 1st quarter every game, having to watch highlights the next day because you didn't remember?  Either that, or you don't know much about talent when it comes to football.  If you would have watched full games, you'd have seen the idiot play calling of course, but you'd have also seen there were a couple times a game that a playmaker would get a chance, show what he can do, then go watch from the sidelines the rest of the game.

Don't worry about the Gators.  Their recruiting class was fine.  You sign what you need and all they needed was about 10 players but signed 18.  This is a very young team with plenty of Freshmen & Sophmores just itching and with the talent to start.  FSU & Miami had to sign a bunch of players because of the lack of talent they have and the many many needs they needed to fill.  The Gators have a very ball conscious swarming defense that is capable of dominating the game.  The only problem with the Gators last year was getting the ball to the QB.  Do you think with Charlie Weis running the offense that issue will get worked out......yes!  Auburn & Alabama the last 2 years were the fluke they have been the last 25 years and the Gators will return to championship form in 2011.  I don't see anything coming out of Tennesee, Georgia...Les Miles and LSU will be ready to play and contend!
