'Model' for Michigan throwbacks unveiled

They're not officially official just yet. But according to the Detroit Free-Press, the throwback uniforms Michigan will wear for this year's primetime extravaganza against Notre Dame -- the first night game in Michigan Stadium history -- "will be modeled" on the sample image here:

Between this look and the Irish's planned 1960s throwbacks, on national television, with the Big House history being made, the game is shaping up to be quite the event for a matchup of teams that won a combined 15 games a year ago.

The only problem: assuming Michigan's jerseys do look more-or-less like the mockup above, this MVictors Wolverine uniform history tour shows that they won't actually be throwing back to any specific former look; they'll be wearing what the uniform designers at Adidas seem to think a Michigan throwback ought to look like.

Not a big deal if the uniforms come out looking snazzy anyway, but this is college football. A little more effort at authenticity would be nice.

Michigan will have to put numbers on the front of the uniforms, somewhere.   I guess when your footbaqll team falls off the map, you have to stoop to this level to try and gain some attention.  Those uniforms are disgustingly ugly.  However Michigan may not be alone.  The Irish uniforms will feature a huge green shamrock on their helmets.  The Shamrock looks bigger than the helmet does.  O.K. you two.  It is time to grow up and worry about playing football andnot about making a fashion statement or seeing how bad you can look on national T.V.

There is NO number on the front of the uniforms, making it hard for the defense to recognize eligible recievers, Meatchicken will do anything to gain an advantage at this point....just sayin

If the student-athlete doesn't value the education than thats there fault, but don't say they aren't getting anything.  In addition to their free education, housing, and board they get to workout in state of the art facilities that rival professional facilities funded by taxpayers and donors primarily, and secondarily by merchandise, ticket, and TV sales.  In case you haven't looked at the economics of college athletics, most programs don't make money and CERTAINLY wouldn't make money if they didn't get $$ from wealthy alumni and state funds.

These players are pampered and now you want to give them more because they don't value something....shame on them, not on the school.

Lets also not point out the fact that not every scholarship athlete goes on to play professional sports.  Many often use their education as a career.  I'd be curious how many scholarship athletes never play professional sports.
