According to a report from WISHTV in Indiana, the body of Purdue student and running back Sean Matti has been found. Carroll County investigators found Matti's body in Lake Freeman where he was originally reported missing on Sunday night.
Matti had last been seen swimming in the lake around 5pm on Sunday evening while partying with his friends.
Searchers began looking for Matti on Sunday night, but the search was called off due to darkness before resuming again on Monday.
Matti was 22 years old.

Body of missing Purdue player foundIt seems like this summer has had more tragedies among student athletes than others. I sure hope this is the last of such horrible news.
My condolences to the player, his family and teamates. |

I appreciate your thoughts and very appropriate comment, as well as some of the other "appropriate" posts in this thread. It reflects a mindfulness that I'm sure is somewhat comforting and appreciated by the individuals you addressed. Your comments are indicative of an attitude more people should bring to their posts. Thanks. My thoughts and condolences to the immediate and extended family as well. |

Body of missing Purdue player foundA-men brother, so many times in sports and media related events we tend to forget a traggic situation and just want to play the blame game. This is a extremely sad situation in the loss of life of a couple of college KIDS. Yes I know 21-22 year old are not considered children anymore, but I also remember how I acted when I was that age. Who care what the situation may have been as long as it was an accident why does anything else matter.

Body of missing Purdue player foundOk, OK, OK... break it up, people! Cut the crap. The reason this story was posted on a sports page is because the drowning victim was a student athlete. Was the death a tragedy? Yes. Was it an accident? Yes. Was it preventable? Maybe. Either way the end result is terrible.
This young man was enjoying the 4th of July weekend with some friends from school. Probably had too much to drink (has that been proven yet?). Decided to go for a swim and misjudged something along the way. He drowned. Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens all the time. If you cruise the news headlines, you'll see this happened to many people on Sunday. Accidents happen. I'm sad for his family and friends, but I'm also sad that all you knuckle-heads feel the need to distract from the tragedy with your cultural references, your social understanding and educational prowess (or lack of), your need to get the last word in, and your complete lack of respect for the event that took this kids life. Who cares if your right and they're wrong? Some people should learn to type a little slower so their message isn't skewed. SO WHAT?! Get over yourself! My condolences go out to the family and friends of Sean Matti, and all the other families of people who lost their lives in accidents last weekend. It is never easy. Just know you're not alone and that you'll see them again in time. |

Body of missing Purdue player foundI'm going to go out on a limb and assume that your reference to this being a "cultural thing" is your ignorant assumption that Mr. Matti was a black manWhy would you immediately assume the phrase "cultural thing" means a black person? While it may have been a poor choice of words in that the lack of the ability of swimming equals ANY kind of cultural deficiency, it certainly didn't imply race. I mean, why not just an Indiana hick? I'm not saying that's what he meant, but geez.. you jumped RIGHT TO BLACK?? Yeah, I'd say you went out on a limb. |
