July 4 parades mock Pryor, support Tressel

As soon as the Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Doug Lesmirises tweeted yesterday that his local suburban Columbus Fourth of July parade featured a "Tribute to Tressel" float, one flanked by some 20 parade marchers in Jim Tressel sweatervests, we knew that photos would surface eventually. And that they'd be, well, remarkable.

Sure enough, via Twitter user Michael Calo, here's our picture. And yes, I think this qualifies as "remarkable":

We'd question the wisdom of dressing children up to honor a man now synonymous with lying and deception just because he won some football games, but those children do look gosh-darned cute, don't they?

And this being Ohio, that wasn't the only Buckeye-themed parade entry on view this holiday. From Upper Arlington, also outside of Columbus, here's a photo (from @Bucknik of the OZone) showing a car advertising "Pryor's Tattoo and Gold X-Change." But the "Cash 4" gold pants poster is, really, the perfect touch here:

Now if we can find an audio recoding of whatever happened to be coming out of that megaphone, we'll be totally set.

I wouldnt be surprised if next year he isnt rehired by Ohio State as their football coach after his image is rehabiliatated.
Nah, they'll hire him as the AD after Smith finally gets canned.

This is so wrong.  Honoring a liar who was forced to resign is simply wrong. He deceived his employer and deceived the NCAA but he won a lot of games and so to Ohio State fans he is a hero.  I wouldnt be surprised if next year he isnt rehired by Ohio State as their football coach after his image is rehabiliatated.

WHAT!?

This speaks volumes about the morals of these clowns. Tressel is gonna go down as one of the most lying, corrupt coaches in NCAA history. What a slimeball. He deserved that dog Pryor too. Wow. Not that Ohio WAS EVER on my places to visit, but I'd be worried about hanging around people that like that loser.

Pryor was no choir boy, but he is a symptom of the corruption that is Tressel. Tressel should be the one vilified. Did OSU alums and students want their fine university's reputation impeached by a football coach who is now linked with everything that is wrong with sports? He is a disgrace to college football and has been since the 1980's. Pryor and all others involved are guilty of only what Tressel let happen, if not encourage or facilitate.

twilitelounge: I agree 100% As a huge Buckeye fan, I am embarassed by the way some Buckeye fans react in general to some thing s, bnut i very embarassed by this display or not holding one accountible for what he has done. I'm a huge Tressell fan, hated that it had to end that way, BUT he made his own bed as well did Pryor, but I hate that fellow Buckeye fans would rather put this on the shoulders of a 19-20 year and not hold the 58 yr old man accountible is insane. Tressell put the needs or a couple players ahead of the entire team, I wish did not have to happened, loved hime as a coach and man in the community and we local Buckeye fans kinow ALL the good Tressell has done in the community aside from football. I used this moment as a teaching moment for my children that noone is bigger than the law or rules, they ar eplace for a reason and breaking them can lead to what disaster.  Buckeye nation, there was wrong doing that has happened, lets take our medicine and move forward. I will still be in the shoe cheering louder than ever, when those young men that have had to deal with this but have not had a prt in it run onto the field on September 3, 2011.

Sad Times for Buckeye Fans

What bothers me the most about all this is the sainthood being bestowed on Tressel by Buckeye fans (and being a native Ohioan, I count myself as a Buckeye football fan as well) while Pryor gets villified.  The sad fact is that Tressel created Pryor by looking the other way and ultimately lying to protect him (and keep him playing).  I am far my disappointed in and distressed by Jim Tressel than I am Terrelle Pryor.

Let me tell you.
That tattoo parlor owner gave up $50,000.00 to the Feds but got to keep his Ohio State gear he got from the players. My question is, HOW MUCH STUFF DOES HE HAVE ! If this guy has a truckload of stuff.... Ohio State is in deep crap because either the players stole it, or the University GAVE it to them and should have known they were doing something with it.
That is the shoe I want to see drop.
It's really going to be ugly if their is a ton of stuff.

Jerry,
This is out of context for this article, but are you doing a Women's FIFA thread somewhere?
