Dan Beebe doesn't seem concerned about A&M

It seems that if Texas A&M really is set on leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC, the Aggies better hope that the SEC's interest in them is mutual. According to our Texas A&M Rapid Reporter Brent Zwerneman, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has told Texas A&M that the Big 12 will survive without it. Which doesn't exactly sound like the words of a man who is trying to do everything he can to keep A&M in the Big 12.

Beebe also told Texas A&M that Texas is the school that holds the key to the Big 12's future, and that as long as the Longhorns don't leave, the Big 12 would survive. In fact, should Texas A&M leave then the Big 12 may just replace them with Houston

Of course, that's if Texas doesn't decide to leave the conference as well. Something that isn't exactly set in stone according to The Oklahoman. In a story about Oklahoma believing that Texas A&M is going to leave, there's also this tidbit about what the future of Texas may hold.
[Texas athletic director DeLoss] Dodds said his preference is for the Big 12 to bring in another school to replace A&M, should the Aggies leave. He also mentioned Texas and Notre Dame joining forces to create a new conference, should the Big 12 disintegrate.
In other words, Texas doesn't really care if its in-state rival leaves the conference, but it just wants to make sure that the Big 12 remains a 10-school league, or the Longhorns will continue to cut their own path.

So if it wasn't apparent to you before, it should be now that the Aggies are merely just the first domino of what could be many to fall.

Beebe is doing whats necessary too keep the Big XII together.  Why?  Its better for all 10 schools.  If it wasn't, would all the other schools be gone?  Is Beebe holding a gun to KSU or ISU.  No, they benefit from being in the BIG XII.  If not the BIG XII, then who, C-USA.  They would have to discontinue a number of sports.

If the other schools want to get more money, go try.  I say the Big 10, Pac-12, and SEC are missing the boat.  What if Ohio St. or Alabama could get more money if they joined the BIG XII.  I bet they could!  Wouldn't it be stupid for them to stay in the Big 10.

I think all sorts of stuff could happen, but until another conference can offer what the BIG XII offers to its members, it isn't going to collapse.

BYU and ND could make more money in the BIG XII, and keep most of their independance!

I think Beebe must be employed by Texas. Like an idiot he does not see Texas is destroying everything around him which will eventually land him unemployed. How does he cowar down to a team who has won 1 NC in the last 40 years and despite all that talent managed a 5-7 record last year? He is just like Texas, they don't feel like they need to try, they feel success should just come because they have an overflow of talent in their back yard as well as a huge population willing to make them rich. The only problem is the rest of the country does not care. Texas wants to be the Yankees without earning it. Win 20+ championships and then you can pull this crap. Until then your just a bunch of pompous fools who haven't done jack and the rest of the country is laughing at you.

Wow!  The state of denial by some of the fans of the Little 8 is stunning.  Yeah...Texas will "protect" you...ugh.  Embarrassing.  Tigers, Wildcats, Jayhawks, Cyclones, Bears, Raiders, Cowboys, and (surprisingly) Sooners...you've made your bed, now sleep in it.

The next time Dan Beebe tells the full truth will be the first.  He is petty, vindictive, and a compulsive liar.

The question is what next?  It's very obvious that the LHN is not going anywhere.  That means there are really only two possibilites for Texas. 1.) Somehow keep the Big 9 together.  2.) Go independant.  The PAC 12, and Big 10+2 won't allow the LHN to exist.  So Oklahoma, it's your move.  Are you going to stay in a league where Texas has an enourmous advantage in recruiting and $$$ plus owns the commissioner of the league or will you take you talents elsewhere?

Texas wont really regret this, if you look at the political side of things.  ESPN has dumped millions of dollars into TLN and isnt going to just roll over and let all of that money go to waste.  Being a sooner fan and knowing where you get your thoughts about the confrence dying when the big red machine left.  In my opinion Texas wanted the northern super power gone so the confrence would be decided in October instead of December.  Texas will be fine, they have numerous 5 star recruits close to home and have the top earning athletic department in the nation.  As much as I hate to say this, ESPN will ensure Texas remains atop the confrence whether it be the Big 12 or the formation of a new confrence.

if the rest of the big12 were smart enough, the rest of the conference would leave 1 x1 leaving texas by itself.....all alone with its special network.

Can you read?  I don't refute the all time record.  It is what it is.  Tell me what is the record from 1950 to present.  In case you haven't noticed our great grand parents aren't alive any longer.  I care not what the shorthorns did in the 1910s and 1920s.  Bitch!!!
