The recruitment of highly-touted running back Lache Seastrunk has been well-documented for very different reasons over the last year. After being granted his release from Oregon over the weekend, Seastrunk has decided to take his talents to Waco, TX.

Baylor announced on Tuesday that Seastrunk has signed a financial aid contract and will enroll at the school with plans of joining the football team. He redshirted the 2010 season in Eugene and hopes to join the Bears immediately.

"I think Lache is back where he needs to be," head coach Art Briles said in the school's release, "on Texas soil at Baylor University where he will have the opportunity to get a quality education and play football at the highest level. We're looking forward to him being a great teammate."

Oregon was once thrilled to land the top-ranked Texas-native, but Seastrunk's presence on campus fell under a cloud after the NCAA began looking into his relationship with Will Lyles. Oregon paid Lyles, a mentor to Seastrunk, $25,000 for recruiting services, and NCAA is concerned that those services violated recruiting regulations.

Seastrunk, though unproven in game action, should make a dynamic pairing in the Baylor backfield with talented quarterback Robert Griffin III.  The Bears open the 2011 season on Sept. 2, hosting the defending Rose Bowl champion TCU Horned Frogs.

The big problem to me with the Oregon situation that no one talks about is how Liles MOVED LAMICHAEL JAMES OUT OF TEXAS because he couldn't pass a basic math exam, which all Texas grads have to be able to pass to graduate.

As a Texas high school grad, it was REALLY, REALLY easy.  Texas is not exactly a hotbed for academic success...

So instead Liles helped facilitate James transfering to a school in Arkansas so that he could GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL.  And the proud academic tradition that is the University of Oregon welcomed him with open arms.

This isn't the University of Phoenix or DeVry Online people.

COME ON!  And Chip Kelly said it was great what Liles did.

This kid is the hesiman front runner, someone millions of kids will look up to, and it saddens me that nobody cares.

The article insinuates that Lache left Oregon because of the Willie Lyles iincident. Please get some journalistic integrity and report the facts.  Lache was a conflicted young man dealing with an NCAA investigation, a failing grandmother who raised him back in Texas, and the strong possibility that he was going to get beat out in the playing rotation by two freshmen, Lache made a personal decision to return home for his grandmother.  I don't think his motives should be questioned in the press.  He was an innocent caught up in a tough situation.  We should all wish Lache Seastrunk well.
He has transferred to Baylor, 40 miles from his grandmother.

Great kid who has huge upside.   Multiple reasons...never comfortable being away from home.  Needed to be back near to both is NaNa and other Grandma who is sick.   Oregon media (John Canzano, Schroeder, others ) helped create a horrible environment for this kid to compete and stay focused.  Canzano was 24/7 on Willie Lyles story linking Oregon's recruiting troubles to Lyles and Seastrunk.  He had the gaul to blame the departure on Oregon fans not embracing Lache's performance.  He was 4th on the depth chart due to De Anthony Thomas and Tra Carson showing Div. I skills.   Could have developed but his time is ticking.   Wish him the best...very spitural person who the fans in Oregon really embraced.
