One of the cool things about the modern-day Internet is that when John or Suzy Q. College Football Fan in Anywhere, USA does something brilliant, we all get to find about it. And one Tennessee-supporting mother named Cortney has indeed gone and done something brilliant:

For those of you unfamiliar with the current Volunteer head coach, that costume is Derek Dooley from the top of his headset to the soles of his shoes. We don't know a lot of details about Cortney (or her tyke, who we expect Barbara Dooley to try and make a play for legal custody of any minute now), but thanks to an e-mail to Outkick the Coverage we do know how she put together the costume: an XBox accessory for the headset, a pitch-perfect dye job for the pants, an iron-on for the T logo, a radio clip to accompany the headset and -- most critically -- a black vinyl wig borrowed from a Superman outfit for Derek's impeccable hair.

We seriously doubt Cortney's efforts are going to be topped this Halloween season, but the nice thing is that if anyone does? The Internet will make sure we know about it.

big daddy 18,

Absolutely HILARIOUS that you use "we" as if you were actually a Vols fan. You are right about one thing, "we" are NOT back. We really are terrible right now. Losing by far your two best players tends to have that effect.

And yes, Worley was not ready; in fact, he for some reason looked a lot like a freshman getting his feet wet against a tough SEC defense Saturday. Imagine that. And I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to burn his redshirt, but if Bray goes down next year, we might have been glad to get Worley some experience. So, I think it was an understandable gamble, even if it didn't pay off Saturday.

No, the Vols aren't back, but it won't surprise me a bit that if you are singing a different tune about Dooley and the Vols next year after we get Bray & Hunter back healthy.

After all, that's typically how fair-weather "fans" roll.

vols are back from what !!   i have season tix live here  (went to penn state) a life long knoxville resident.   dooley is awful.   so he lost players.   i am tired of hearing about what he lost.  sounds like our president.  they have both have two things  in common.    they are losers AND LAWYERS.  he has never won anything as a head coach and will not.   the dummy took out matt simms because he played bad.  so it was against LSU AND ALABAMA.   this new kid absolutely was AWFUL.   he is not ready but you stupid coach took a year away from him.  now we  have simms sitting back with absolutely no confidence anymore.   Derek Dooley was a loser at LA TECH and he is a awful coach in knoxville.   we should go find mike hamilton and lynch his ass.   he hired kiffin and his nfl cronies,   lost tonite too i might add.  SO CAROLINA  is an average team at best (new QB AND NO RUNNING GAME) and we scored 3 points.   we had it on the 2 in the 3rd quarter after an interception and whorley threw a INT.   we are god awful.  close the program.  we will not be competitive for the next 3-5 years.   fire dooley now and get someone before he makes it worse. he made LA TECH even worse than they were 10 years ago.  sorry pal,  derek is NO VINCE.  hey derek,  go get some clients for your future law practice, and do us all a favor,  get rid of that stupid jungle hat you wear at ALL INTERVIEWS.       VOLS R BACK,  you my friend are an idiot.

Memphis Murder-that a very appropriate name for anything with memphis name in it.So let me ask you. What have you seen to make you think Dooley is not the answer?Do you not know anything about football?Let me in on whats going on.Did you not know of the mess that Dooley walked into?Did you not know we had 35 players leave the program in 3 years, because of the 3 coaching changes we had.We are short of our 82 scholorships, and what we do have is a bunch of Freshman and Sophmore. It will take Dooley about 3 or maybe 4 recruioting classes to get the players he wants and NEEDS.So give him some time before you say he is not going to get it done.

Some of the comments below mine are funny especially JCNipper's, let me offer a couple things I thought of right away: 1) Kids have that confused look on their face but they are kids and it is okay, they all have that look at that age, what isn't okay is when a grown man has that same look on the sidelines each week and 2) With his outfit the kid is ready to go and would be a better coach for the Vols than the guy he has been made to resemble, Derek Doofus!
