Georgia Tech C 'probably out' for Clemson

Georgia Tech is looking to bounce back this weekend, after falling from their top spot in the ACC Coastal Division thanks to two straight losses. The challenge is daunting, but an upset win over undefeated Clemson at home in primetime could be enough to put the Yellow Jackets back on track. Unfortunately, it looks like they might have to accomplish that task without starting center Jay Finch.

Head coach Paul Johnson said on Wednesday Finch is "probably out" for Saturday night's showdown with the Tigers. The redshirt sophomore started at guard in 2010 and has played every game at center for the Yellow Jackets this season. He was injured on the first play from scrimmage against Miami, replaced by redshirt junior Nick McRae for the remainder of the game.

McRae and the rest of the Yellow Jackets' offensive line will carry a heavy load going up against the Clemson defensive line. Brandon Thompson and Andre Branch have both emerged as some of the league's most dominant down linemen, and Georgia Tech needs to neutralize them to open things up in the rushing attack.

A win over Clemson keeps Georgia Tech in the hunt for an ACC championship game appearance. With division-leading Virginia Tech still on the schedule, the Yellow Jackets will need to win out and get some help in order to claim the Coastal Division title. A loss to the Tigers on Saturday likely puts them out of the hunt, heading into the bye week looking to finish strong after the three game slide.
