Over the weekend we learned that Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin got into a fight with wide receiver Curtis Drake, and that the fight had some scary consequences. Not only was McGloin knocked unconscious during the fight, but he also suffered a seizure and had to be hospitalized for a brief period.

McGloin has since returned to the team, and on Monday he took full responsibility for the fight with Drake.

"I'm willing to take full responsibility -- it was my fault," McGloin told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I started it, but as a quarterback for this university, I should be held to a higher standard. It should not have happened. I should've walked away from it.

"It was just two guys who are emotional about the game, who got into an argument."

McGloin said that the fight consisted of a few punches being exchanged, and that he slipped and hit his head on the concrete floor, which knocked him unconcious. McGloin also said that he had yet to speak to Drake since the incident.

As for how this will affect Penn State in its bowl game, McGloin has not yet been cleared to practice and failed a concussion test on Sunday. Interim head coach Tom Bradley said both players will face internal discipline, but also that he doesn't plan on naming a starter at quarterback before the bowl game. Penn State's other option is Rob Bolden, but Bolden is in a bit of hot water himself.

According to Bradley, Bolden was part of a "prank gone awry" and was cited for stealing a bottle of Gatorade from a convenience store on Friday. Though Bradley also said that Bolden's incident won't have any effect on his playing time.

You're right, until recently, football at Penn State has always been a close 2nd behind boy-rape.

Shoplifting won't have any effect on his playing time? Huh? No wonder other worse things go on at this school. Sorry if you are a penn state fan or alum and this is not how it was when you were there, but don't these kids understand that they are under a microscope right now? The future of their schools reputation starts with them right now? Other times things like this might go un noticed but they have to be better and the university should be taking a hard stance. The kid should be suspended the rest opf the year and their should be no question he is not available for a reward like travelling with the team to a bowl game. Even if they have to train a RB to take snaps and not throw a pass all day.

At Penn State, football comes before thieves and locker room brawlers. If they won't let child rape get in the way of football, they won't let this stuff get in the way of football. He'll play.

The bowl game is gonna be a mess. Penn state has fallen completely apart since the scandel. There is no leadership at the coacing level. You have a temp who is only going through the motions. With no leadership things like this happen. You can't expect 18-21 year olds to police themself. One qb stealing, another one fighting with teamates. How often will McGloin throw to drake in the game now?  If both are benched who plays qb?

Houston had their hearts torn out. They was thinking BCS bowl. How excited are they to be in this bowl?
