Dayne Crist has once again committed to playing quarterback for Charlie Weis.

The former Notre Dame quarterback who was recruited to South Bend by Weis announced after the regular season that he was transferring from Notre Dame after losing his starting job to Tommy Rees in the season opener against USF. He had been considering both Wisconsin and Kansas, but Crist made his announcement official on Thursday morning using Twitter.

This is good new for Weis and Kansas, as it means the Jayhawks will have a quarterback who is already somewhat familiar with Weis' offense, and it will make the transition easier. Also, since Crist will be graduating this spring, he won't have to sit out a season like most transfers, but instead will be eligible to play right away like Russell Wilson did with Wisconsin this season.

Speaking of Wisconsin, you have to wonder if it's a coincidence that Crist's decision came a few hours after it became official that Pitt had hired Wisconsin's offensive coordinator Paul Chryst to become their new head coach. Crist may have already been leaning toward Kansas before the announcement, but it no doubt had an impact on his decision.

Wow, did you stay up all night trying to come up with some pithy statement only to post this dribble?  Lets talk Basetball records on your almamater shall we?  Honestly, is this jealousy or just ignorance that prompted this post?

Weis has a chance to turn around the program pretty fast. Those players they have coming back are division one players. They are not the best ranked players in the country, but they have some football skills. They have a good quarterback. Grunfeld will get the offensive line in good shape. It appers from the scores of some of the games they need to get the defense shored up. Defense is a lot of "i want to do it". I don't think we have to worry about Weis being to nice a guy. He wants to prove he can be a good division one coach, or he would not have come back.

in the South Florida game, Notre Dame drove right down the field on the first drive.  then Jonas Gray fumbled at the goal-line and South Florida returned it 99 yards.  the Irish had no right just competing with South Florida at home.  Crist didn't lose the game.  USC man-handled ND for the most part, and the Irish were fortunate to make it interesting.  Dayne Crist was in for like 5 plays.  He didn't lose the game.  Kelly wasn't going to give Crist a chance anyway, so he's gone and that's that.  But don't give me the Rees wins games argument, unless you're happy with 7-8 win seasons.  A high school QB won't beat USC, Oklahoma, etc. next year...

Doesn't matter as that school is a joke. basketball team that chokes every year after bulking up a record in a weak conference and a football team that may be able to win a game or two at the D3 level.
Speaking of jokes....you should call up Nevin Shapiro Surprised

Backwards as everything in Lawrence. They are the University of Kansas, yet go by KU. Probably because UK is already taken by a better school in Kentucky.

Rees wins games. As i remember There were a couple turnovers that Crist had in the USF game then they put Rees in and we actually competed. We lost to USC because Crist fumbled in the red zone. We were competing in the USC game if you don't remember. Tulsa we started Crist, he couldnt move the ball, then got injured and Rees was there to bring us back into the game. Did Kelly make some dumb decisions? Yes. But Crist leaving is great for ND becaus he cant play the game, he is terrible.
