West Virginia has some new billboards

While West Virginia is making its way to a new era in the Big 12, it's not quite ready to forget about its past. Well, at least not its recent past.

If you've been cruising along any interstates near Morgantown in recent days, you may have noticed these nice reminders about West Virginia's recent success against Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

While this may seem somewhat insulting to Clemson fans, let's remember that the billboards are in West Virginia, not South Carolina. So it's not as if the Mountaineers are rubbing it in anyone's face.

Though a part of me does wonder if spending money on billboards is the best thing for a school that currently owes the Big East $20 million to do right now.

West Virginia has some new billboards

Have to agree about the "one hit wonder"-type comments. ACC is "average", huh?! Yeah, the Big East has been a super conference over the last several years. Funny that WVU had actually lost their previous 2 bowl games prior to this year to ACC teams (NC State & FSU). They beat Clemson and now, all of sudden, they're world beaters!! Miami may have been "mediocre" the last few years but I'll take that 16-3 lifetime record vs. WVU including the last 6 and 9 of the last 10. Win a game of actual importance i.e., a National Championship, then you can start talking shit.

West Virginia has some new billboards

After a 20 year hiatus you guys finally won another championship in the ACC!  (Average Coast Conference).

You ventured out to a half decent bowl and got your clocks cleaned by the Mountaineers.  The favorite line by ESPN reporters for several days after the game was...."And just in......West Virginia just scored again!"

Maybe you should devote your energies more to winning back your "State Championship" before you start thinking about "ANYTHING"...."National"!

No Teres Minor!! The billboard was the result of SEC oversigning just like everything else, right?? And for a yankee turd who spends all day bashing us dumb rednecks down south, you sure know alot about "professional" wrasslin. Hmmm. I bet you HATE gays too don't you.

WVU has nothing to do with that billboard. Lamar Advertising put that billboard up on their own.

Bamachamps, be careful up there on that high horse, it's a long way down, wasn't it Bama's band that played " take the money and run" for Cam Newton and his daddy before the investigation was ever finished? We are ALL trash from the mason dixon down, everyone knows that.

I just wished they had scored 80 so the speed limit would have went up on I-79.  That way it matches the speed everybody drives.

I have to admit, though, it is good advertising for WVA.

West Virginia pathetic as usual

So, this is what it's come to for the 'eers?  One Orange Bowl victory is worth a seires of billboards bragging about the score?  This is a classless move by a classless school: go figure.  I can see why they want to brag about this victory and bask in it as long as possible, though.  It's going to be a long time before they make a BCS bowl out of the Big 12.

In the Big 12, WVU will be what is known in professional wrestling as a JTTS: jobber to the stars.  That's the midcard wrestler who gets to beat other midcard wrestlers, but is then "promoted" to losing or "jobbing" to the performers at the top of the food chain.

With the billboards, though, WVU has accomplished something nearly impossible: they are threatening Michigan State for the school that does the most bragging about and gets the most mileage out of one victory.

yawn!!! I wonder where the Orange came from in the picture?  Makes me hungry. I am sure the Florida Citrus Growers Association loves those billboards.
