Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Rays are interested in signing former Texas Ranger infielder Hank Blalock to a minor league deal. The Florida Marlins have shown interest, too.
Blalock, 29, hit .259 with 152 home runs and 535 RBI during his eight seasons with Texas. The left-handed hitter struggled with a .234 average last season, finishing with 25 homers and 66 RBI in 495 plate appearances.
