LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -
This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.
THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!
PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, AFC East, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.
RULES FOR POSTING -
I take it upon myself to donate my time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. I will not track your picks if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, I won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.
- Post only 1 LOCK per day. You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week. A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday. Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL. You do not have to stay in one sport. Spread them around if you like.
- No "buying" points.
- First half lines are OK. No second half or quarter lines. We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.
- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc.
- No props.
- No moneylines.
- Hockey and soccer plays need to be -129 or better. No HUGE favorites for LOCKS. If you have a -200 line or something, take the -1.5 goals if you feel like it is still a LOCK.
- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.
You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on said team.

I will try to get CONSENSUS statistics out before the first tips each day around 3:40 PM, PST. There is no guarantee, however.

Ohio State -2.5 vs Illinois
I would not call this a lock (at least as of right now) but it will be as strong of a play that i will have without it being conidered a "lock" and will wager just as much as i have on some of my other "locks."
Ohio State has been a solid home team this year going 5-1 in league play with the lone loss coming to michigan state and inlcudes a nice ot win vs purdue and a 6 point win (should have been more but hoffarber went on absolute tear from 3 land in the 2nd half) against minnesota on there last home stand. They now come off two straight road losses to wisconsin, where they played well but fell short, and northwestern, they are no slouches this year, and NEED this win for a chance to go dancing.
Illinois on the otherhand has been sub-par lately especially on the road and they are coming off a home loss to penn state. They are 3-4 on the road in the big ten this year with a good win at purdue and a close loss at michigan state early on. But since then they have been less than spectacular getting thumped at minnesota and wisconsin and SHOULD have lost at northwestern but northwestern still doesn't know how to close out games (except against wisconsin 
). In there last road game they did beat indiana but as we all know that means nothing.
I may personally play the ML on this or buy the hook pending on how much i bet.

As I've been saying, with this new approach to the Pens style, it's go go go. This sets up for a high scoring game and the team that scores last will probably win. I know the Pens are 0-5 on no days rest after a win, but hey, why not.
As for Col, you remember the 1 goal trend, 2nd in the league with 1 goal loses, 1st in the league with 1 goal wins, Paul Statsny could be back today, and lets remember, the Canes have been geting hammered at home until they beat TB the other night....again, TB 
. Col plays everyone close and could certainly win today.
GL guys, I got hockey this am but should be around a little bit this afternoon.
Just checked a denver site, looks like Statsny is doubtful and should play Tuesday, Carolina has not beaten Col since they were the Hartford Whales 0-13 since then.
Looking for that karma for 1st LOCK.

I have to hand it to you USC starting the thread @5:30 your time, hope you weren't up cooking breakfest too. I think between the good foundation of cappers we now have all on the same page e cam move forward in a big way. I think we all put a little too much pressure to "come out of the gates fast" and that may have clouded the judgement a little. I never shoud have been laying 18 with Nova no matter what the circumstances where. Oh well Butler was rather easy and a good retrun to form.
Had my eye on 3 games I mentioned on the air yesterday; Duquesne/LaSalle, Seton Hall/St. Jonhs/, and Mich St/Wisc. these will be my main games of focus today. Not sure if one will meet my criteria to be a lock but I will report. Working on narowing down picks and capping horses now, as soon as i am ready I will post for everyone. LOCK = Syracuse - 2 1/2
Yes, I know Villanova beat up the Cuse a few weeks back 102-85 and they have had success at the Carrier Dome in the past, but there are two very important intangibles goin in favor of the Orange today.
#1 - The Schedule - Syracuse has had a full week between games.. Much needed after playin Nova / UConn / GTown in their past 3.. A win today sets up for a strong finish to the season w/ games left versus @St. John's / Cincy / Rutgers / @Marquette..
#2 - Health - This is a direct result of #1.. Onuako had 4 pts in the previous match-up.. He is coming off his first double-double, 15/13, in his past five games, and him being back to mid-season form will hold Cunningham in check, 31 pts. in the previous match-up.
I expect Cunningham to be in a bit of foul trouble and Onuako to exert his presence inside.. Flynn, Harris, Devendorf, Jackson, and a healthy Rautins will get theirs and Syracuse will cover and get win #20 on the season today!

I like the Knicks today +3 or ML, 12:00 ET. They just destroyed Toronto at the Garden of Friday, and haven't scored less than 100 points in over a month. Toronto is 2-8 in their last 10, and in a tailspin. Knicks just threw up 42 in the 1Q against the same bunch on Friday. I'm going large on NYK 1Q, and ML on the game.
Well went 1-1 yesterday with Sac over losing by 1 point. Dal only getting 14 points in the 4th quarter hurt.

I Like the Bruins -1.5 (I would prefer the -240 ML) against a bad Tampa Bay team in the NHL schedule. The Bruins are the top team in the in the Eastern Conference and have an outstanding road record. Tampa Bay is just bad whether their that at home or on the road.
I have to also go with Ohio State as a great pick of an Illonios team that can't get out of it's own way at times. Not a lock, but a great pick minus the 2.5

Well my card would have been better if i stopped after the 4 o'clock games. Gave 8 units back between 6-9 o'clock games for a losing night of 4 units. This week is the exact opposite of last week for me (net up 19 bucks for the 2 weeks!)
Looking for 2 strong plays to put in a big win reverse, ideally far enough apart I could hedge if I got edgy.
