 I look at teams like the Celtics and Bulls that have created their teams around a point guard as the central piece as a flawed approach....

...the Celtics didn't really create their team around Rondo, its just worked out that way now as the vets have gotten older, and Rondo has gotten better...Rose was a bonafide franchise player from day 1, but of course he'll need help to get that team to a championship...Boozer, Noah, Hamilton and Deng are no match for the Heat even with a healthy Rose...Magic Johnson and Lebron James are both PG's....they just happen to be 6-8, 6-9 or so...vs.  Rose and Rondo's 6-2, 6-3....all 4 play point guard but they all bring different skills and strengths to the position..so I don't see it as a position issue as much as its size and versatility issue....Magic and Lebron can play pretty much every position on the floor, a huge advantage...what true PG, at 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 can handle Magic or Lebron??...they create huge matchup issues...Rose and Rondo are true point guards, but their skillsets alone will not get you a Championship...Rondo won a ring with 3 future HOF's in or near their primes....so did Magic, and Isaiah, and Lebron is teamed up with 2 future HOF'ers last season and this year 3, with Ray Allen...tough for Rose or Rondo to compete with that this season...and the big advantage is that in today's game, Lebron can defend small guys like Paul, or Rose, or big guys like Carmelo or Griffin, or a superstar like Kobe or Duncan, he's that big, strong and dominant ....

 An elite point is fine, but you can get the production out of that position with just a good player....

very few "good" PG's can defend like Rondo or score like Rose...they are 2 special players, and they can hide a team's flaws but given their smaller size, teams with bigger , more versatile players like Kobe, Lebron, or Jordan and Pippen from the past, are clearly at an advantage...

bsting--Here's the bigger issue with "signed" budgets.  None of "Ws" budgets included the monies spent on the Iraq/Afghanistan wars.  None include all the monies still being siphoned from SS/Medicare.  If the House was really being honest with the American public, they'd start with the projected income the nation takes in, and base the budget to and including all expenditures (minus the ususal pork), and then submit that to a president.  But that hasn't been done for decades and the current GOP House is crying foul because Obama won't sign one of their budgets?  If we are going to trim deficits,then congress HAS to be honest in the budget it proposes and that hasn't happened since God was a child.

I thinbk you hit the nail with the latter part, more than with the prior.  I don't think it had much to do with HW, but a whole lot with God.  Based on his speeches and off the cuff comments over the years, I 100% believe Bush 43 felt it was a sacred duty to bring democracy to the Middle East.  Almost a cursade if you will.   Like many wars we have been dragged into, his intentions were good, but the outcome disasterous.


I have never bought into the oil or revenge theories as they never carried any evidence.


One of the things that concerns me today is the man who was largely the mastermind of the prolonged occupation of Iraq (Bremmer), is still in DC advising the current president.  This guy should have been canned 10 years ago, let alone still be floating around.

I disagree that a shotgun is best suited for home defense, some one is in my house, in close quarters, I want a had gun.

Unless you're in such close quarters that the intruder is right on you a shotgun is the best for home defense since it requires less accuracy than a handgun. Just point in their general direction and fire. If worse comes to worse it also makes for a handy club if need be

You don't honestly expect me to buy this garbage of an explanation do you? The military option wasn't "only a suggestion". You posited as a viable solution to the problem if they couldn't go to where the work was.

And while you may technically "pay" by your service you're still on the government dole throughout your entire tenure and any subsequent benefits you receive due to that service after you leave. For the rest of your life.

No matter how you want to write it off your solution was to still throw money at the problem, but apparently it's acceptable if you do so and dumb liberal thinking if anyone else does it lol.
