cheesesteaks sound good, but remember in Philly they don't actually use cheese on them, they put cheese wiz on the bun...oh I am sure you can find a place there that does use cheese, but not sure the natives feel it is the same.  The rest of us get actual cheese on ours.  (cheese steak fact of the day?)

Iowa does produce a lot of pork but for the most part corn is king; farmland is about $3K an acre or more, you aren't going to waste it on cows...oddly enough though, the big island of Hawaii has the largest cattle ranch in the US, imagine the methane going on near those volcanos.  Missouri actually has a lot of cows from what I have seen though.  Need that grass fed beef though, not the corn kind.

I am heading to KC this summer sometime, kids want to see the new Lego thing at Hallmark plaza Crown Center or whatever it is now

hawk==1000000% wrong! wiz is an option, just like american or provolone. now you can't get crazy and go for swiss or cheddar, but any place has american or provolone. you should've asked the expert.

chief-you live in kc. they have good cheesesteaks there ?

phoggy-what are you bringing me ?

Yes they do catfish, there is a place downtown called Grinders, the guy who owns the place is from philly so they are as authentic as it gets.

Had to look that up, see it is just South of downtown and the P&L district.  How long has that place been there?  I know there used to be a bunch of strip clubs in that area too.  Can't stand Fieri, he can't even pronounce his own name anymore, got all fancy when he went to tv but this place looks like fun but not sure I could do some of those pizzas.

and not 10000% wrong, based on the info they give you about Gino's and Pat's...but, like we have discussed before, they are the tourist places, isn't Tony Luke's the best or can't recall...you told me about a really great place once.

just bc he's from philly, doesn't mean it's authentic. im from philly and i can't make one. watched the episode...they don't use roast beef or whatever meat he used. it's not like that. i will give him grade A on the wiz, and onions. no one uses green peppers on a cheese steak and he forgot the #1 thing. believe it or not, it's the roll. i grew up not knowing or caring about bread bs eating it. now, the roll makes the difference. Liscio's has taken over many places that sell cheesesteaks, hoagies etc. the roll makes the difference over some crappy roll. he doesn't mention that. so F in that regard.

hawk-you can get american or provo at pat's and geno's. it's not only wiz, so i don't know what you're looking at. they rave about tony luke's too, but at 11:52 pm, the line is still around the corner. to me, it has to be on a good roll, hot, cheese melted and chopped. a little greek lady outside my work in a cart makes the best cheesesteak i ever had. now at 3 am-go to pat's or genos to soak up the beer in your belly. many other places in the city that are good.

and i like guy fieri. he brought a ton of places i never heard of in philly in diners, drive-ins and dives to the forefront. i've been to one of the places he went too and it's rocks!  i didnt have what he ordered bc i missed it on the menu. but i went to the place bf he did and it's a killer spot with great and different kind of food, stuffed burgers with crazy cheese stuffed inside, waiters and waitresses in tattoos and the walls covered with pictures of dogs. the name of the place - good dog!  and a ton of great beers on tap too!

At a minimum, I would be on guess #45 before I said Hawaii.

My Red Sox keep losing to the Royals
If they go another month like this, they're toast.  If they were in a crappy division like the AL Central, they could get away with it longer, but the AL East has too many good teams.  They won't all fall apart.......Oh, wait a second.  They've expanded the playoffs.  I suppose that gives them a little more time.

The weird thing about the Red Sox is how bad they've played at Fenway.  They've been pretty good on the road, but their record at home is terrible.

Good Friday morning all.

Catfish, your Sixers and my Celtics tomorrow night at 8 p.m. in Boston.  Be there buddy!

By the way, so far the Phillies are making the Reds look like world beaters.  What's up with that?

By the way, the Parker Ranch on the big island of Hawaii used to be the largest cattle ranch in the U.S., but has lost that designation after selling off some land.

The King Ranch in south Texas is still one of the largest with 825,000 acres on the books, but are spread out a bit in choppy sections.  The largest contiguous ("under one fence") ranch is the Waggonner Ranch, just south of Vernon, Texas.

Been to all three over the years.  Wasn't really planned, but happened to be in the area on business, or driving through.

the phils have bench guys being asked to start and their real starters not doing much. their rotation is ok but now rumors are swirling hamels isnt happy with how the team is doing and headed and wants out. ok fine punk. send his overrated butt to a bad team for a hitter and 3 prospects. see if he likes that.

the phils have the baby aces in the minors ready in 2013 and  2014. they need hitting asap. their gm went off on the team and threatened trades by july if they dont turn it around. im smell this is the start of the march to the east title.

Whoa...just got stunned today when a fellow high school classmate lost his wife, leaving behind a devoted husband and 4 daughters.  Crazy world, we are so worried about politics, gay marriage, celebrities, bad fans and more, it's still important to love that special person be it a father, mother, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, cousin, best friend, dog, cat, whatever...just have a good weekend and love the one you're with.

Hawk, absolutely correct on those sentiments...love the one you're with.  Take nothing for granted people.

Catfish, I've been a Celtic fan since the playing days of Bob Cousy which means since before you were born my friend.  LaughingWink

Oh, and I did mow the lawn, cook and do the dishes.  LOL

Yay for Rok for treating his lady right.  I got up, made breakfast, we went to church, made lunch, did the dishes, did the laundry, vacuumed, my daughter took my wife to see The Avengers (I did not get to go Cry) so it was Mom's easy day.

Question for you Catfish, why do the Phillies not play Ruiz more?

Hawk...right now he's a little dinged and it's early enough in the season still to let him mend while sitting.
