The Hereafter Lyric Game

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky
You were caught in the crossfire of childhood and stardom
Blown on the steel breeze
Come on you target for faraway laughter
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND PARTS 1-5 - PINK FLOYD      Dedicated to SYD BARRET.  I watched a BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL show on PINK FLOYD over the weekend. While Syd left the band and was replaced by David Gilmour in 69-70, SYD actually lived until 2006 and the band members made sure he received royalty checks from EVERY ONE of their albums all the way up until his death. Appears he got along better with his former bandmates than Waters and Gilmour and Wright all did with each other. I actually think that SHINE ON YOUR CRAZY DIAMOND PARTS 1-5 & 6-9, which is mostly instrumental, is the best perfomance they ever recorded. I get those goose bumps on my arms every time I listen to the synthesizer and guitar interplay on bath sections, but particularly the second section that closes out what I feel is their best album.  Excellant choice CLEAN.

NEXT LYRICS:  Going back a little more mainstream for the band that my recently deceased friend from Belfast came to America with.

Tonight there's gonna be trouble
Some of us won't survive
See the boys and me mean business
Bustin' out dead or alive

I can hear the hound dogs on my trail
All hell breaks loose, alarm and sirens wail
Like the game if you lose
Go to jail

Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy. They've shown Thin Lizzy concerts on Comcast on demand music section, and they put on a quite an elaborate show. I didn;t know most of rhe songs, but they sure sounded great.

This guy sure had a short career:

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
You don't like my point of view
You think that I'm insane

DAY AFTER DAY - BADFINGER   One of my favorite songs by this snakebitten band. Hard to say if having Peter Asher introduce them to Paul McCartney was a good thing of their downfall as the initial exposure and ongoing legal and finacial troubles that came from their affiliation with APPLE records contributed to the suicide of two of their main members, PETE HAM & TOM EVANS.  I think I mentioned before that I have in import version of their album ASS, the last recording released by APPLE RECORDS and finally released after a couple of years by DECCA, their new record company. A few years ago when I checked out a record collectors BLUE BOOK, ASS turned out to be one of my more valuable albums, valued at $50-$100 dollars. Amazing how much value difference there is in the little details, such as the inclusion of a certain symbol or color on the record label indictating which printing it is. There were several records in my collection that fell just one qualification short of being worth over $1000 instead of the many I have valued at $25-50 DOLLARS.

NEXT LYRICS: The composer and singer of this song by one of rock's very best bands is the HEREAFTER link I'm seeking.

Gonna buy a tank and an aeroplane
When she catches up with me
Won't be no time to explain
She thinks I've been with another woman
And that's enough to send her half insane
Gonna buy a fast car
Put on my lead boots
And take a long, long drive
I may end up spending all my money
But I'll still be alive

Workin' on highways and byways
And wearing a frown

just wanted to butt in for a second and challenge you guys a little.  If you count the Robert Palmer remake, Bang A Gong is a tune that boasts TWO singers to die before their time.  Can anyone come up with another song sung by more than one dead person?

I like trav's idea a lot!
I think we should all try to come up with songs that were done by multiple "dead people" for as long as we can.
Trav did start the thread and I agree that it might be fun to test our brains - at least for a little while - until we run out of dead people.
I think we should include non-singers in this little exercise - as long as they were a permanent member of the band or are famous for having played or sung on that recording.

So I will start it off with a song that reached Number One for the original artist and made the Top 100 for the cover version.

She said that living with me,
Was bringing her down, yea
She won't never be free,
When i was around.

And Hollywood's calling for the movie rights
Singing hey babe let's keep in touch
Hey baby let's keep in touch

And an awesome connection to the Carpenters!
I'd call that a homerun!!

NEXT LYRICS: I'm having a difficult time finding songs that were hits for two different deceased artists, although I can think of plenty like this one that were huge hits for deceased artists and also were written and recorded by deceased artists, although the song didn't chart for the original artists.

No, I can't forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that's just the way the story goes
You always smile but in your eyes your sorrow shows
Yes, it shows
