The Hereafter Lyric Game

NEXT LYRICS: I'm having a difficult time finding songs that were hits for two different deceased artists, although I can think of plenty like this one that were huge hits for deceased artists and also were written and recorded by deceased artists, although the song didn't chart for the original artists.

No, I can't forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that's just the way the story goes
You always smile but in your eyes your sorrow shows
Yes, it shows

I am continuing with the "double dead guys" theme:

They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely

I will do another double dead guy song here but it is fine to open this thread back up to any single dead guys.
Where has the creator of this thread gone???

Pretty little raven at the bird-band stand
Told them how to do the bob and it was grand
They started going steady and bless my soul
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole

Rockin' Robin - Bobby Day and Michael Jackson

This song is predominantly based on two hits by deceased artists.

And we were trying different things, smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Here's a duet where both singers have since passed on:

I read your letters when you're not near
But they don't move me
And they don't groove me like when I hear
Your sweet voice whispering in my ear

I am looking for two different artists here.
The one from 1968 will be obvious but the other one was from 1970 and the deceased member of the band was the brother of the lead singer.

You know that a man ain't supposed to cry, but these tears I can't hold inside.
Losin' you would end my life you see, 'cause you mean that much to me.
You could have told me yourself that you found someone else.

Heard It Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye and CCR, referring to Tom Fogerty

Taught me so well I grabbed that gold
And I left his dead ass by the side of the road

This one is most well known by the greatest voice in the history of music but was covered in 1999 by a guy who sang about a city that no one felt sorry for.

I was all right for a while, I could smile for a while
But I saw you last night you held my hand so tight
As you stopped to say hello
Oh, you wished me well, you couldn't tel

CRYING - ROY ORBISON   would be the voice who wrote and originally recorded this song.  It was also recorded by GENE PITNEY in 1999 on GENE PITNEY SINGS GREAT BALLADS.  Pitney passed on April 5, 2006.

NEXT LYRICS: This song may have been used, but there's an interesting story that goes with it. It was originally written by WILLIE DIXON and released as a single in 1961 by CHESS RECORDS by this famous bluesman. Now he was a favorite of the ROLLING STONES, who I'm a favorite of and I saw Bill Wyman tell a story that is verified by this passage from AMG.com.

At the height of the British Invasion, the Stones came to America in 1965 for an appearance on ABC-TV's rock music show, Shindig. Their main stipulation for appearing on the program was that _____________would be their special guest. With the Stones sitting worshipfully at his feet,________ performed a storming version of "How Many More Years," being seen on his network-TV debut by an audience of a few million.

The men don't know
But the little girls understand
All right, yeah
You men eat your dinner
Eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken
Than any man ever seen, yeah, yeah
