so samuel will be traded to the Falcons for a 6th rd pick a so called top notch corner owed 21 mil the next 2 years. this does not bode well for trying to trade freeney. dwight has been mum the whole time which tells me he is a very unhappy camper. my take is to keep him if you cant get at least a 3rd rd pick. let him perform for his big bucks he wants as a FA. not sure how compensation works on signing FA's but id rather take my chances and get what we can out of him this year. if he becomes a problem suspend him for conuct detremenal to the team.

They ARE NOT going to pay him $19mil to play a position he's NEVER played before. He'll have to be DPOY AND break the sack record for them to even consider him producing enough to meet that $19mil mark. Cutting Freeney saves $14mil to the cap this year alone. Freeney walks away with $5mil, much like Manning getting cut and still walking away with $11.4mil. Next year they owe them NOTHING. Its smart financially to cut the loose ends and continue their path of rebuilding. They are holding on to him just for the draft. A team will go in and miss out on a player (DE) they were looking for and low and behold Dwight Freeney is dangled right in front of them. The Colts won't find any issues on giving him up for a 4th or 5th. I highly doubt the Colts get even close to a 3rd for him and a 4th might be stretching it, BUT teams may get desperate and possibly give up an early round pick. The major problem though is that $19mil price tag. The Colts don't want to pay it and I'm sure no one else does either. Again, if there is no trade partner, Freeney is going to be the next to be shown the door. if he becomes a problem suspend him for conuct detremenal to the team.I don't see this being an issue with him. |

hey Bleedblu, I know you guys are probably right about Freeney, as hard as it will be to see him go, its got to be for the best. I know he refused to rework his contract, that was the only hope he had to stay a Colt. Now I see all Samuel was worth was a 7th round draft choice. Let's see what Freeney is worth.

i look at it a different way blue, i dont see a team being desperate during the draft. i see it more likely happening after training camp when someone gets hurt a team looking to win now will be in play. unless he gets traded during the draft for another disgruntled player. unless of course the Jets throw thier hat into the ring then there is a real possibility of the Colts making out.

Glad to see Fleener make it through round 1. Now he just has to survive one more pick. The Rams should go WR though, they apparently like a lot of them (for good reason) and with 3 early 2nd rounders they could do something else to start the round off. I'm still guessing that they'll go with a WR and the way that Fleener would go before the Colts get on the clock is if someone decides to trade up.
Just a few more hours till this gets rolling again! |

Glad to see Fleener be pick here. Figure round 3 is going to be on the defensive side of the ball now.

Closing in on the third round now. Any ideas on who to go for there? One of the NT or CB? I'd assume it's going to be on d but would Randle be a possibility if he falls there since he's still out there at the moment.

i look at it a different way blue, i dont see a team being desperate during the draft. i see it more likely happening after training campThey can't wait until training camp. The cut-off for contractual "cuts" is in the middle of June. If he stays any longer than that he get's that $19mil. If it happens I will be totally shocked, but again I expect him to be cut if he's not traded. |

i wasnt sure on the cut[off dates. but if they plan on cutting then i think they will look to draft his replacement with the 2nd pick. but i think they go te , ol , rb with the 2nd and 3rd.
