Father in heaven,

We lift up all of these in need in prayer to You. All of the people in this thread cry out for You alone, O Lord, because You are the One we look to for help. And we lift up those also who are afraid or ashamed, like me, to publicly post their needs. You are the one who is merciful and holy and true. There is no other.

Father, please hear us and act according to Your most holy will. Raise the downtrodden, heal the sick, help the poor, bless the widow and the fatherless. And lead us to take the gospel to the furthermost parts of the earth to all who will hear.

We revere Your Most Holy Name forever because of Your Great Glory. Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name forever and ever! Your Name is lifted up continually forever and ever because You are the God who has redeemed us. You love us even though we are sinners and most unworthy. Please continue Your mercy and rain Your blessings down upon us. We ask these things in the most blessed and precious Name of Jesus Your Son who died for the sins of the whole world. Amen.

Good to see you all!  I made it through my tests without a brain tumor--fibromyalgia is a horrid disease because it mimics so many other conditions.  The doctors were pretty thorough in coming up with a way to make glasses that refract light differently so hopefully I can see better.  It rests in God's hands to see what works and what doesn't.  He is faithful to us at all times, praise His name!

I am asking for prayer for my dear friends Andrea (Andy) and Bill.  Bill has cancer and is in the final stages; he's at home with hospice care.  Andy was my last boss and Bill worked there as well, so these wonderful people did so much for me throughout my illness to keep me working as long as I possibly could.  I couldn't find a card to send that said what I wanted to say, but I found this Prayer for a Dying Friend and thought I'd share it here as well.

Be God's!
Sis

Blessings For A Dying Friend

May your days and nights be filled with peace,
And may those you love be near.
May the solace of that closeness
Banish any hint of fear.

May the joy you've brought to others
Fill your soul now with that light,
And the memories of happy times
Fill your dreams through darkest night.

For you've lent your strength to many.
You've upheld us in our strife.
Now let those of us who love you
Let you know just how your life

Has been the brightest beacon
For you've shown us how to bear
With great dignity and courage
Both the bad times and the fair.

As a mentor and a leader
You have always been our guide.
As a friend there's been none better.
May you know all this with pride.

All our prayers and thoughts are with you.
May you feel their soothing grace.
May our care and loving hold you
Here within that sacred space.

And may God then grant you courage
When the time to fight is o'er
And be waiting for you smiling,
When you reach his lofty door.

For you'll be borne by angels
That our Lord has sent for you
And in wholeness be rewarded
All your pain will then be through.

That's great news. I praise the Lord with you.

You've got the right attitude and you are keeping it real just like your screen name says. He is faithful even when we aren't.

I will pray for Andy and Bill. That's tough news to bear. I sure hope Bill is a Christian. May our Heavenly Father bless him and keep him in His arms.

That is a beautiful prayer.

Thanks, Armyman, and yes, Bill and Andrea (Andy) are  Christians.  Bill is in his 80s now and Andy in her early 70s and still working.  They were wonderful people to work for, and I thought God led me to find the right prayer to send to them at this time.

Keeping you in prayer as well, dear bro!

Sis,

That is indeed wonderful news!  My continued prayers for you and mom.  I am also lifting your friends up.  Dear Lord, please give them both peace & comfort beyond what they can comprehend during this time, and I ask this in Your Name, amen.

A local (and nationwide) legend passed away, Carroll Shelby.  He was a happy even though suffering, and that has ended.  I know his loved ones will appreciate prayers during their grief.  Thank you all!

Sissy,

Thank you very much for asking about her.  She is starting to feel better, as the medications are kicking in.  They're not only helping her health, but they are also helping her emotionally.  I believe it is our Almighty God doing the work!  She hasn't mentioned anything about it since I told her (in so many words) about God's loving plan for us, but I will trust Him.  A constant reminder helps, that His Word doesn't return void.  She still has a long way to go with treatments, but she is very tough and a fighter.  Oh, a praise is that she is now developing an appetite!  That is very critical.  Thank you so much for letting our Savior use you, all of you!

Iron Sheik, thanks for the prayers; I agree that standing firm in the Lord is the source of our strength!

WT, I will keep the young lady in my prayers for her healing.  It is hard to see our young athletes suffer injury so early in their playing days.

I also stand in agreement with you in blessing our mothers/wives today.  May the Lord bless and keep them for they have done so much for us.

(I feel like a mother with a teenager who takes the car out for the first time! lol)

I hope everyone is having a blessed day and praying so.  Gary, how is Paula doing?  Praying for both of you, brother.

Today, my mom called from work just sick inside, because someone stole her billfold from her purse.  I haven't been able to talk to her since, but she was going to call the police, and as well as I know her, she is beating herself up over it.  I'm praying that whoever did it gets caught... that something good comes from this.  I'm trying to fight feelings that God wouldn't want me having right now, towards whoever did it, and the way I shouldn't react.  It's not about me, it's because I know how sick she is over this.  Anyway, prayers are greatly appreciated.  I love you all, and I appreciate you very much.

Great Armyman.  Good to see you on the thread.  We kind of like being off the radar sometimes.  We seem to attract driveby harrassers like flies.  Sometimes being inconspicuous works to our advantage.  Some of us used to spend a lot of time doing apologetics on the old theology thread- but we attracted stalkers whick followed us to the prayers thread and made it impossible to interact eith our friends.

1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, Silas[a] and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace to you.

Thanksgiving for the Thessalonians’ Faith

2 We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

4 For we know, brothers and sisters[b] loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead —Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Good morning and God's blessings to all!

I use my profile to get in here so I never know whether or not the thread is listed high and visible on the list of threads.  No problem with being invisible--God will bring our brothers and sisters here as He directs! Smile

"I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry."
Psalm 40:1

In today's world, we think of waiting as a waste of time, yet we spend much of our time doing just that--waiting for the doctor's report, waiting for the phone call to be returned, waiting for our turn in line, waiting for a loan to be approved, etc.  We have much less control over our lives than we would think, and we get caught up in frustration trying to make the waiting time shorter.

Yet it is exactly in those waiting times that God would have us be quiet and seek Him out and let Him speak to us.  I used to carry notecards with me so if I was in stopped traffic, I could pull out the cards with scripture memory verses on them and practice until I had learned them all.  We can pray during those times, we can meditate on His goodness, we can commune with our Father while our world seems to be on hold.  What a blessing those waiting times can be!

Father, we thank You for the many blessings You bestow on us and for the grace that saved us through faith in Your Son, Jesus, our Lord.  Help us to see You in all the moments of our lives--busy or waiting--and to redeem the time as You have taught.  Forgive us for letting this world so clutter our minds that we crowd You out of Your rightful place--first in our lives!  Grow us to maturity in You and help us become the servants You designed us to be and we will give You all the glory and honor for only You are deserving of such praise and thanksgiving.  We pray for the needs of all on this thread and around the world--needs spoken and unspoken, as You know our hearts and our paths and our needs.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen

Amen to that W.T.  I also am lifting up and reading all requests daily, even when I don't post.  It is very encouraging to see so many laboring in the love of prayer to minister to one anothers needs in prayer.

I came across this passage as part of my devotions for today:

Joel 2:

“And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens
    and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness
    and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
32 And everyone who calls
    on the name of the Lord will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
    there will be deliverance,
    as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors
    whom the Lord calls.[c]

Even though the topic is the dreaded Day of the Lord in which he pours out His wrath on all unbelieving mankind, it is heartening to see God's heart in that he pours out his Spirit on young men and women and gives visions and dreams.  All through Hosea and Jeremiah, God makes his case against Israel as the people ran after the Baals and even sacrificed their children to heathen gods.  God laments and anguishes over Ephraim who is remembered as a precocious and lovable youth.  He must punish Israel, but it causes Him grief.  He begs them to repent and return that He might bless them.  Then Joel shifts to the Day of the Lord- the endtime judgment and we see the same heart of the Father speaking to us.  It is humbling and sobering given the evil of our times and what is coming upon those who stubbornly refuse His grace.

"Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity."
Psalm 64:2

Doing what is right and good is sometimes risky. There is always someone who will question our motives and try to undermine the good we hope to accomplish. Be assured that God sees all things, and He will richly reward those who continue to do right, even in the face of stiff opposition.

Father, I know that You are on my side and that You will not leave me to fight on my own. I am constantly made aware of how hard it is to do good things. Fill me with perseverance, Lord. Amen.

Another side note....thank you all for the prayers!!! My cancer is in remission once again, and I am thanking God for the gift of life once again and the opportunity to hopefully take my family to Death Valley for all home games and maybe an away game or two if my health gets better. Once again...thank you, thank you, thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!!
